👩‍💻 How to Make a Test Crypto Donation

How to Obtain Testnet Bitcoins

  1. Install the BitPay mobile application and create your account.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Wallets & Keys > My Key > Wallets.
  3. Click Add Wallet and select UTXO Wallet. On the next screen, choose the Bitcoin network and confirm.
  4. Click Show Advanced Options, then select the Testnet4 network.
  5. Confirm by clicking Add Wallet.
  6. Return to the main screen and click Receive.
  7. Choose Bitcoin and select the test wallet you created earlier.
  8. Copy the wallet address and paste it into coinfaucet.eu to receive testnet coins (note that withdrawals are limited to one every 12 hours).

❗️ Important: Although the minimum donation amount supported by Gemini is 0.00001 BTC, you will need additional funds to cover transaction fees.


How to Make a Donation

  1. Navigate to https://sandbox.thegivingblock.com/?version=2&organizationId=((YOUR_ORGANIZATION_ID))
  2. Select Crypto and choose Bitcoin (BTC) as the currency.
  3. Enter a transaction amount greater than 0.0001 BTC.
  4. Click Donate.
  5. On the next screen, either select an anonymous donation or provide your personal details.
  6. Optionally, enter an email address to receive a receipt.
  7. Use the BitPay mobile application to scan the QR code and send the donation to the generated address.

Testing with simulated Crypto Donations

Testing crypto via Testnet has a few limitations. Currently only tBTC is supported, and in many cases syncing is slow. To overcome these limitations, we supported creating simulated donations. Simulated donations are donations that do not happen on a blockchain but are inserted into our system manually.

Currently supported currencies for simulated donations: ETH, SOL.

To create a simulated donation, please follow the steps below:

  1. Visit TGB Donation Form, and initiate a Crypto donation. Make sure to select one of the supported currencies.

  2. On the last step in the Donation Form, copy a deposit address.

  3. Visit Crypto Donation Simulator, paste deposit address from the previous step, enter currency and amount, and click donate.

  4. If everything went through successfully, the simulated donation should be visible in our system shortly.
